British Prime Minister Theresa May To Begin Brexit Without Second Vote

British Prime Minister Theresa May plans to begin the Brexit process without holding a parliamentary vote. Lawyers say she has the power to trigger the exit without a vote, although a majority of the 650 lawmakers have declared themselves “Remainers,” opposed to the secession. Opponents argue that because the EU referendum is not legally binding, elected lawmakers should review the vote before beginning the process. A former head of civil service, Gus O’Donnell, said that the process of formally leaving the EU will take “years and years and years.”
